Introducing Japanese Fashion: The World of a "Mori Girl"
I thought I'll begin with several posts surrounding Japanese street fashion. We shall begin with "Mori Girl".
So what is Mori Girl? Mori in Japanese means "forest", in another way it's seen as "forest girl". Their fashion revolves around dressing as an enchanted girl of the forest who is one with nature itself and appreciates the little things in life, wearing a mixture of shawls, faerie-like dresses, gypsy skirts, woollen leggings & tights, wintery boots, dainty pumps, vintage accessories, cameo pins, long jumpers worn with antique looking belts-it's a neverending list, though it's generally what they were.
Mori Girl clothing comes in a range of woodland themed colours, from different shades of brown, cream, green, grey to warm blush shades of rose pink. Think of as being Little Red Riding Hood. Generally this fashion has always appealed to me, it's simply too adorable & natural.
Mori-Girl clothing & accessories can be found in many places! If you're familiar with Taobao, there are shops available that will sell exclusive mori-only items, I'll post a list sometime in future. Antique shops, charity shops and basic thrift stores are gold mines for this fashion & it's possible to put together an outfit within reasonable budget.
Considering this blog is UK based, if I find mori potential items from affordable nearby mainstream shops ex. Primark, New Look, Select, Peacocks etc. I will post updates on this!
