Kentucky Fried Japan

Is there anything Japan doesn't do already? Apparently not. Airline food isn't the greatest food to ever eat while 30,000 feet in the air. It can taste of plastic, have dry texture, crumble to pieces in your hand or generally just taste inedible. Maybe if you're lucky you'll get a giant chocolate chip cookie with a glass of milk if you happen to fly first class...

Now I'm a fan of KFC, those Chicken Twister Wraps...their Krushems...the snackboxes & lunchboxes, they're delicious. So what have Japan decided on? To serve KFC on their air carrier JAL, which is far from the traditional airline food we know of. From December-February of 2013, JAL & KFC are forming a fond relationship to bring the delightful chicken goodness to their airline meal times. This will surely win the hearts and more customers will be willing to fly on this airline? Considering they do have competition from other air carriers afterall, the battle is on. A plane that serves KFC, I'll throw all of my money at it and regret nothing, nothing at all.

Apparently Japan are OBSESSED with KFC, especially around Christmas time. I find that truly bizarre & hilarious. I thought only the Southern states of the US behaved this way with fried chicken! Us Southerners are huge fans of the stuff. CHICKEN MEANS EVERYTHING. It all began with a foreigner entering a KFC to order some chicken because his party was turkeyless. Low and behold Japan thought Christmas + KFC had this special bond, and since 1974 having greasy fingers and crispyness is now all part of the holiday spirit over there. They will queue for hours on end to get their chicken fix around Christmas. Don't believe me? Just Youtube it.

Japanese website Gigazine attended the launch of the KFC airline food chain and posted some great photos of what the food is like-and it looks mighty damn good.

And look at this, you even get little instructions on how to form your flat bread sandwich together! It's actually rather cute.

I'd do anything to go on the flight right now, then again, I'd do anything to go to Japan-period.
I can dream can I? We can all dream...
