Kyary Pamyu Pamyu O2 Islington Concert
On the 13th of Feb I attended a Kyary Pamyu Pamyu concert at the 02 Islington Academy in London.
Seriously I can't get enough of this girl. She's adorable, she's hyperactive, she's sweet, loves her fans and her music makes me instantly happy-which is great for a kawaii desu motivation drive!
I joined the queue at around 4:30pm and was standing outside for a good few hours in the freezing cold, luckily where it was located and my position in the queue was sheltered from the wintery elements! Shivering was a good thing though, I got to make new friends, Jpop & Kpop fans and a couple of them funny enough happen to live very close to where I live. I'm so far behind on the Asian music scene it just hurts. Though besides KPP I really like Perfume and 4Minute!
Finally inside we got ourselves sorted and I bought a KPP poster which unfortunately got rather damaged being in the crowds later on but it can be saved. In the hall it soon became stuffy, warm and full of energy as everyone chanted for Kyary to come out on stage. This surreal child-like tune kept playing on repeat over and over as we waited for her and flashing blue stage lights blinded us into a trance (I swear I thought I'd lose my mind). She finally came out after about being a quarter of an hour late and suddenly the entire room went MENTAL.
Oh she is just so precious, although her English is nearly non existent, she spoke purely in Japanese and it was translated for the audience. The night went on and she performed most of her popular songs, including a new hit due for later release in March called "Ninjari Bang Bang". I can't wait for it! By the end she wished us farewell with her usual goodbye song "Chan Chaka Chan" then surprised us by actually ending the concert with her performance along with the dance troupe to "Tsukema Tsukeru".
It was a great concert and it was my first official live one of a singer I happen to enjoy as I've only attended orchestras (Video Games Live 2008). I really do hope she returns to the UK for another tour, she's fabulous.
KPP!!! <3333
